Bow seats

Hi all,

My bow seats are a little rough on the bosses rear.....

Looking at ways of either getting a tougher rear for the boss or upgrading the wooden seats.

So looking at going down easy path and replacing wooden seats with "Starboard" - Marine-Grade Polymer Sheet. Has anyone been down this path - would appreciate your input.

Also, has anyone any experience with Marine-Grade Polymer Sheet in Australia, that would say yes or no to that particular brand?

Cheers Brett

Bow seats

The teak bow seats had some black spots on them and we did not want the extra maintenance and cleaning that out door teak requires, so we cut some new seats out of King Starboard Marine Lumber.

These new bow seats are maintenance free and will last the life of the boat.

They cost $55 each with enough material left over to make a large cutting board.

Each seat is held on with 5 large #8 screws x 3/4" inch long.

Re: Bow seats

Made stern seats out of HDPE - the generic term for Starboard brand. No issues.

Re: Bow seats

We'll need photo of boss's seat.

Seriously, why not have a cushion made with snaps? Snap on, snap off. Very cushiony.

Re: Bow seats

That's just got me another boat Job on L450 now. We purchased a new cutting board HDPE from a commercial kitchen supplier in Cairns last year. 500 x 380 x 18 mm, cost $22 each AUD. So far the cost of two and a bit of work I will have to new low maintenance bow seats.

Sorry about that PaulinOz, but when your done you will be "Very Happy" that you will never have to touch the bow seats again.

Boat's have enough maintenance, without having to do cosmetic deck chores on wood bow seats.
