12V electrical wiring issues

My 3-cabin owners version L440 is coming up to 10 years old and increasingly I'm experiencing 12V wiring issues, in particular in the lighting circuits. Lots of annoying shorts, that either cause lights to flicker, or not to work at all. Biggest issue is the wiring in the starboard hull. Anyone experienced the same issue and have maybe resolved the issues without doing a major re-wiring job?

Re: 12V electrical wiring issues

Yes, we are a 2008 3 Cab.

Same issues, particularly in the Stb Owners Cabin.

The fix was a PITA - had to run new wires from the 12v main wireing houseing. Also removed the dimmers years ago as they were failing.

Have had to re wire the bilge pumps on both sides as they had failed in the loom somewhere. Biggest issue is that the looms are all wired together and cable tied, so if a wire goes you cannot pull it out and replace. Grrr

Also enjoy getting the headlinings down as the lewmar hatch surrounds on the inside are well and truely gooed in. Just be very gentle with them and use a stanle or craft knife, but be prepared to have to re do the ceiling lining

Re: 12V electrical wiring issues

Before you start re-wiring, check out the switches. I had a faulty ceiling mounted switch that caused the lights to flicker.
The large square switches are standard domestic French AC light switches. They are available from any French hardware store or online (?).
Hope this helps.
