Have never sailed one but know a couple of folks who do/have owned them..
Am assuming your buying an ex-charter boat.. if so..
Get a good survey done by a wooden boat specialist.. fly one in from the UK rather than a local recommendation.. this is a big investment and a long trip.
Pay special attention to the masts and rigging... these boats are generally motor sailed everywhere and the sticks and rags are primarily for show... fantastic accommodation space though and striking to look at in some case's
Best of luck with the project..

Re: Info needed on gulets

Welcome to the forum.

It is always difficult to categorise boats, but most gullets are really motor boats. The sails are for show and to add to the romance of the holiday.
They are not very seaworthy craft and I would have some hesitation on taking, even a large one on the journey you describe.
Many are built with softwood parts with a short limited life in mind.

The above comments are generalisations and there are exceptions. They are usually one off constructions so anything is possible.

Sorry to sound so negative, but it not unusual for someone to buy one these boats and sadly to find they are not suited to the intended application.
Gets lots of experienced advice before you proceed with your plan.
