Where were you!

Ahhhh...where were you two months ago when I needed one. I just bought a new one from west marine for $500. Thats a deal but I don't need one now.

It would have been a good excuse to sail to Panama ;-)

I hope I can make someone happy with it though... sorry I posted too late for you ;-)

cheers,
Nick.

Nick, I think this could make me very happy. Assuming it will work with a simple one-bank plus isolated starter battery system, I will take it. Also assuming the shipping to USA zipcode 11214 is not too bad.

Hi Speedoo,

I am afraid shipping is costly to the USA plus US customs can put duty on it even though it came from the USA originally... You could check this with your local FedEx office. The pick-up would be:

Shelter Bay Marina
Fort Sherman
Colon
Panama

FedEx is the only viable option because it would never arrive if I shipped it with the Panama postal service ;-)
I do see DHL here but have no experience with them in Panama so I wouldn't recommend them.

The double shunt works for one bank too but when you also want to monitor your starter battery, you must check if the negative of the starter battery is connected to the negative of the house battery. If these are isolated from each other, you would need a separate second shunt (which is easily available anywhere).

cheers,
Nick.

Thanks, Nick. I'll see what I can find out from FedEx.

The other option is ... I won't really need it for several months, so if you are going to be somewhere soon where shipping might be less expensive, I could pay you now and wait for shipping later.

I'll get back to you by PM after I contact FedEx.
