Xantrex Battery Monitor Acting Strange...

It seems to be working, but the background light is gone and it only shows 1/2 the real voltage (6.5 V instead of 13 V)
The temprature readout, the amps used, etc all seem to be working good.

Have not done any work on the electrical system, not changed batteries, no adjustments or re-sets, no nothing..It just started doing it one fine morning...

I thought of a possible lighting strike, but the rest of the electric and electronic gizzmos seem to be working just fine.

The Battery Monitor is 4 years old and have performed fine with no prior problems.

If the thing is shot and needs replacement I jsut go on ebay and pick one up right...?

Wrong, they are out of production and replaced with a smimilar looking unit.

The million dollar quesiton is if the new ones can use the same wireing harness and temp sender...?

(It was hell to run the wires, don't want to do it again to install the new model)

Any ideas....?

The replacement is the ProLink and you are in luck; it uses the same number of wires! There is a different design shunt but it is 500 A/50 mV like the Link 1000.

You might try a factory reset...procedure is in the manual...before condemning the current unit.

Good luck.

Had the same issue with our link the past couple of weeks, voltage reading off on one battery bank. Ended up a bad connection at the battery. replaced the connector and everything is fine.

Yeah, that is part of the big plan, but not too optimistic..

Does that mean I can use the old shunt...?

Yeah, I looked at the battery connectors, no visible problems, but will disconnect and put back together.

Also suspected a bad connection at the instrument as the wires/connections seems a bit flimsy, found nothing wrong there either, but will remove the wires, then re-install them.

Even if there was a bad connection somewhere, why would I loose the background light...?
