Spectra Watermaker

A never-used Spectra watermaker. Pristine condtion. Ventura 150 model with pressure gauge, product flow meter, Clark pump, and lots of spares. Previous owners on recently purchased boat began to install it, but never finished when their cruising plans changed. Easily removed from my boat. All you need is a thruhull and some hosing. All the rest supplied. Will make six gallons an hour. Photos available on request. 4,500 dollars.

Boat is in City Island, NY. I suppose there is a way to pack it all up and send, if it should come to that.

DeepPlaya, I guess one from the store is about 5 grand, but not sure if that would include all the bits and pieces, load of filters and so on that I have. Since mine's not been used it's the same thing as the one you found on the ad. I'm not firm on 4,500, of course, but close. If there happens to be anyone more local that might make most sense since then you're talking about avoiding shipping costs. all best.

What would really help 3reefs is if you took and posted a few good pics of the unit and all that comes with it. A never used 150VT is rare to find and certainly a highly desired watermaker for sailors. If you're not firm on the $4,500 chnaces are good that you'll be able to sell it. Also Spectra has a distributor network. Just because one distributor advertises a price doesn't mean that price qoute is any good outside of his area.

unused Spectra

Here are a few pics then. Thanks for the tip - didn't know you could attach photos. The watermaker is semi-installed, ie main bits are screwed in and piped, but not fully hooked up and has never been hooked up to the water intake. POs bought it with Mexico cruising in mind, but in the end they didn't go. I have more pressing needs than a watermaker, so there it is. I can give more detail and pics to anyone interested.

No one feeling thirsty?

Forum mates, in case anyone is interested but lost the ad in the torrent of classifieds, my unused, perfectly kept Spectra Ventura water maker is still looking for a home. Photos are posted inside this thread.

dropping price

My unused Spectra (NEVER been hooked up to the thruhull) is still available and I'm willing to drop to 4,000 dollars. Seems pretty fair given a new one can be 5,500.

what's the condition of the membrane

Do you know if the membrane has been properly pickled? Is it in good shape? The watermaker could be new but if the membrane is shot and a new one costs ~$400 and it also comes without any kind of warranty then even $4000 could be high...

Alphapuppy, first things first: my price is now 3,500.
The membrane: since the unit has never been used I'm assuming the membrane was pickled at the factory. I called Spectra and they confirmed there is a risk that the membrane will need replacing. At Spectra that costs 500 odd, while at wholesalers which can be found on the Web the same thing is a lot less. The rep noted it was equally possible that the membrane is OK. The rest of the unit, being in good shape, has no reason not to be perfect. I only discovered the membrane issue after my original postings and that's why I'm making the price 3,500. Best wishes.

spectra watermaker

Hi 3Reefs,

In your post you mention a full Ventura150 system but your pictures failed to show some of the "standard" components such as the "ventura Feed Pump Module" (see http://www.spectrawatermakers.com/im...ilter-Pump.jpg) or the owners manual (http://www.spectrawatermakers.com/do...tura_150DX.pdf). I assume you just haven't shown that in your pictures but that it is part of the system that you are selling right? Best regards,

Alex

does it include everything

Hi 3reefs,

In your original post you mention this is a complete Spectra Ventura150 system but your pictures fail to show the Ventura feed pump module (http://www.spectrawatermakers.com/im...ilter-Pump.jpg). I assume the system includes that right?
