Monitor Vane

I am seeking a Monitor self steering vane, preferably one made within the last ten years.

I see you are sailing a Westsail 32. I am sure you know that if you do find a vane. Scanmar will have a diagram so you can build the frame for it. I use to bend these tubes for Scanmar when I worked in Mill Valley at a muffler shop........BEST WISHES in finding a good one......i2f

I've got one that was fitted but running control lines and boats steering didn't work out. Have removed it. AFAIK, it's no more than 5 years old and has almost no actual use. $2200 FOB Alameda, CA.

Aloha

Peter,

Woulds it be a hassle to get me a couple of pictures and maybe the serial number of the unit?

Thanks,

Chris

Chris,

Do you know about the WOA group buy of Cape Horn Windvanes? We're getting a significant discount with the purchase of 21 units.

WOA Cape Horn Group Buy

Email me if you're interested. They may still let you join in.

Cheers,

Peter,

January would be fine as I wouldn't be ready to do this to spring anyway.

CB

Aaron,

I do know about the Cape Horn group buy. As a side note Ives the builder of the Cape Horn units was at my boat a couple of months ago. He had to stop at our marina on the Hudson River to affect an engine repair and walked over and introduced himself, (Try and sell a Vane). For what it is worth I prefer the Monitor, a tried and true, refined unit. With over a 100 installs on the Westsail alone I am comfortable they will be around for a while.
