Here is a very unusual and beautiful bluewater boat and it is fully ocean cruise ready for only $49,900. And it's listed for sale in the classified section.

Actually, its not a Freedom however it has a similar appearance. It is a custom south african built boat. Its a 1996 model.

What makes it a"bluewater" boat? Is it the knife holder? Of is it those easy to pass side decks?

Re: Now here is a georgeous bluewater boat for $49k

I like the looks of the boat, and I also like Freedom boats too.

I looked at the photos in your profile gallery, and think the boat looks very nice (appears in very good condition). Nice saloon/galley area.

A few friendly curiosity questions:

1. What are the masts made of?

2. What is the beam and draft?

3. Is it a fiberglass hull?

4. What kind of booms?

Re: Now here is a georgeous bluewater boat for $49k

Its definately the knifeholder that makes it bluewater. Have to cut up all the fish you catch easily.
The side decks are plenty adequate, with grab handles everywhere as you walk forward. Gotta have those grab handles at sea.

Booms are definitely fiberglass but not sure of the mast. Its either fiberglass or carbon fiber. It is made both ways. Carbon fiber is a bit lighter and stiffer, while fiberglass is more whippy and a bit heavier. Fiberglass is a cheaper alternative for builders.

Beam 12'
Draft 5'9"
Hull: Fiberglass with balsa sandwich core.

cheers

Re: Now here is a georgeous bluewater boat for $49k

Hi gang. I looked at the pictures again to see why sailorboy thought there was no side decks. Then I noticed from the pictures that it didn't appear to have any side decks. But what you don't see is that there are raised bulwarks around the hull hiding the view of the side decks. That's so your feet don't slide off the slippery decks when the boat is heeling and you have to be on the downwind side. I can't imagine going to sea with any boat that doesn't have that. Cheers!
