Saloon windows

Hi all,
I suspect this had been asked before, but a quick search didn't find it, so..
Does anyone know what the saloon windows are glued in with, or have a recommendation for what to use to rebed them?

Assuming they haven't been done before, whatever the factory used has lasted 17 years, which seems good to me, would be happy to use that again.
Cheers,
Trev

Re: Saloon windows

Download the specs for both they are pretty much the same. If FP don't use the exact product it will be essentially the same stuff.

Re: Saloon windows

Our FP Athena saloon windows were bonded with a double sided foam tape from new. The problem with that is the sun UV attacks the foam and adhesive over time, hence the black painted strip on the edge of the windows to reduce the UV. Our windows are fine under the eyebrow but the foam has deteriorated lower down. I have injected a 1 part polyurethane sealant adhesive, but Dow 795 would have been better as it is a structural glazing adhesive and very resistant to UV. I have used 795 to bed new acrylics in the deck hatches and that has worked well for last 3 years

Re: Saloon windows

Our Bahia we redid after 23 years, we are going to actually replace the windows next year. As Rapanui mentions the UV damage is the killer, we have permanent UV screens with about 50mm tape around the edges, this now covers the edges of the windows where the sealant is and should give it a much longer life. We used Bostik 70-08.

Re: Saloon windows

Dow Corning 795 is the way to go. Best UV resistance of all window glues.
Stay away from sikaflex, done that and never again
FP uses actually car window glue from a French company I forgot the name, same bs then the acrylic hull windows are glued in with and you get black stains from glue parts that desolve due to UV due to car window are rested by a metal seam which also protects the corners but in our cats that’s not the case.
On the hull windows I used 3M UV resistant I think it was 4400UV on top of existing to stop the black stains.
