Sum Log limited to 10000 nm

I found out that since I passed the 10000 nm my Sum Log is not displayed anymore in OpenCPN. It seems that the max number of digits for this sentence to display in OpenCPN is 4.
I fixed it easily using the nmea converter plugin and by removing 10000 to the NMEA sentence data. However I have a few Macs onboard and the plugin is not available on those platforms, so no Sum Log on the macs..
Is there anyone else experiencing this?

Ideally I would like to keep my Sum Log as it is above 10000 nm for my own accountability (we are several captains and it can get messy by manually adding 10000 in the physical logbook..), is there a potential fix for this?

Exactly which NMEA sentence is causing the problem? Please give an example and I will look into it.

The sentence concerned is VLW:

VLW - Distance Traveled through Water

Field Number:
1) Total cumulative distance
2) N = Nautical Miles

4) N = Nautical Miles

Can you give me a real example of a sentence that does not work?

This one is read in OpenCPN NMEA debug windows but is not diplayed:
<GREEN>23:02:34 (Serial:COM4) $IIVLW,11188.07,N,,*1B<0x0D><0x0A>
also tried this form that is not displayed:
<GREEN>23:03:54 (Virtual $XXVLW,11188.07,N,0,N*65<0x0D><0x0A>

This is with the workaround with nmea converter plugin that is displayed:
<GREEN>23:02:34 (Virtual $XXVLW,1188.07,N,0,N*54<0x0D><0x0A>

Well this is a bug for sure and we "fixed" something similar in the past. Will take some work to resolve. I will try to create a change that fixes this issue permanently.

Ok thanks for looking into this, I’ll stick with my temporary workaround removing 10000nm then, and I found a way to make it work on mac.
Would be nice to keep this post updated if there is a fix for it.
