Route Manager very slow

I am having problems with Route Manager--it is running very slow (takes about 15-20 seconds) to load or to make any changes to waypoints or routes. I don't have any other performance problems with OpenCpn. There is also no problem changing waypoints or routes by right-clicking them from the normal screen displaying a chart, selecting properties for the route or waypoint, and making the changes that way. That works fast. It is just when I launch Route Manager.

I see that several people have reported this same problem. (Do a google search on the following:
route manager slow site:www.cruisersforum.com/forums/f134
The first 3 hits are other people reporting the same problem, dating back to 2010, but I don't see any indication that it has been solved.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am running OpenCpn 3.2.2 on Windows 7.

Thanks in advance,

Jim

Re: Route Manager very slow

Hey Serge, thanks for the quick reply.

I tried the steps outlined in the thread you referred to as directed:

1. Exit OpenCPN
2. Rename file navobj.xml to navobj.bak
3. Start OpenCPN
4. Close OpenCPN
5. Rename navobj.bak to navobj.xml

When I do this, between steps 3 and 4 I test Route Manager, and of course it is instantaneous, because there are no waypoints or routes. After step 5 it is slow again.

I checked navobj.xml with an XML editor, and I don't see any problems with the XML. I have about 700 waypoints and 14 routes, no tracks, no layers. Would it bog down with that number of points?

I can post my navobj.xml if that would help in troubleshooting.

Thanks,

Jim

Thanks Jim,

But this bug has been already fixed by Nohal.

We have to wait for the next release.

Re: Route Manager very slow

Thanks, Serge! I take it from what you say that the fix won't be in beta 3.3.2222 and I need to wait for 3.4. Is that right?

Re: Route Manager very slow

jim...

If the problem appeared on 3.3.2222, and was not present before, then the solution will appear in the next Beta.

If not, more research needed....

Please post your navobj.xml file here.

Thanks
Dave

Re: Route Manager very slow

Serge sent me a private reply with the info on how to get 3.3.2222 beta. I downloaded it and the upgrade kept all my existing waypoints and routes, and Route Manager now loads in sub-second times. Thanks for the assistance!
