OpenPlotter: SDR-AIS VHF transmit

Has anyone tried the function VHF transmit located on the SDR-AIS tab of OpenPlotter (version 0.8.0 beta)? Apparently, a USB sound card is required to use it. Any suggestion on which USB sound card is adequate, configuration and comments on how to use this function are appreciated.

Using VHF for ais reception instead of a sdr dongle
