OpenGL suddenly missing.

I use Ocpn 5.8.4 with Open plotter on a RPI 4 and it has worked for a long time but now the OpenGL is gone. The square where it should be activated is grayed out and it´s impossible to activate it again. Any ideas how I get it back?

Open the configuration file opencpn.ini
and edit the lines
OpenGL=1
DisableOpenGL=0

The problem with OpenGL has been getting worse lately

I have the same problem with my old Windows 10 Dell laptop. Setting OpenGL=1 and DisableOpenGL=0 doesn't work with 5.8.4.

The 5.8.4 log has essentially the same info but also has an OpenGL test:

So 5.8.4 disables OpenGL on my laptop while 5.6.2 does not. Clearly this is fatal for running OpenCPN on this machine.
I can re-install 5.6.2 but I need access to compatible plug-ins as the previous ones were deleted by 5.8.4. So can I please have a link to where I can download/install these plug-ins?

OK - I think I have been overly negative here. I have now restored the missing charts I blamed for lack of OpenGL and the system appears to be generally working OK with OpenGL disabled. I guess some of the plugins won't work but I can live with that ... ...

Open.ini file and change OpenGL=0 to 1 and DisableOpenGL= 1 to 0. Things work find after.

As posted above, that procedure does not work on 5.8.4 when the device fails the OpenGL test. OpenGL will not run after failing the test even if you edit the config file.

It doesn't help to do this, OpenGL is still disabled when Ocpn starts and the changes in the config file has been reset.
It has worked before, I noticed it when radar suddenly stopped working.

Did you update to version 5.8.4? If so, read my earlier posts on this thread about O doing an OpenGL test on start up. You can check your log file to see if this is your problem.

No error message So I guess it looks ok.
Yes I am using 5.8.4 but it has been working for a while before it now suddenly failed.

Well, it seems unlike mine your system passed the OpenGL test and set up all the OGL capabilities. Have you tried disabling all the plugins then doing a restart after enabling OGL in the config file?

Disabling OpenGL is observed on a machine with more modern Intel Arc graphics
On discrete nvidia GeForce 1070ti with latest drivers
CPN often crashes when switching from mbtiles map group to ENC S-57. When panning, some of the depth markers disappear. Periodically disabled and blocked by OGL.
Dave, maybe make the OGL test simpler and less demanding, and lock OGL only in safe mode?

and here again, at the most inopportune moment, CPN crashed and blocked OpenGL and disabled all plugins.
It is not possible to use version 5.8.4 normally!

Same happened to me some minutes ago.

Windows 11 Pro ARM64 ver 22H2 22621.2283
OCPN 5.8.4-0+1637c28
Watchdog plugin ver 2.4.73.0
VDR plugin ver 1.3.28.0

computer on board, started OCPN and it took some time to start and not completely, so, I killed the program and start it again, surprise because OpenGL was not loaded and could not be activated.

I've tried what is written above but no way to get active OpenGL in OCPN.

now I'm uninstalling OpenGL from computer and installed again, also o-chart plugin.

check in log file and there is no reference to any glChartCanvas.cpp: I can find only in the log.log file with last entrance today.

at last could be solved seen in log file that there were two entries of DisableOpenGL=
the first one was mine with 0
and the other one created by the program itself, maybe for the problem raised above as 1
I removed the DisableOpenGL=1
and OCPN started with OpenGL activated and not greyed in the Graphic tab
