Dave

#80: Still a bit crazy behavior N of 80N in GL mode. No blue vector shoreline and unpredictable screen when the middle of the screen enters the black area.

#84: Works for the numerical keypad but not for the +/- on the main keyboard.

#85: I can't notice any difference whith the Ctrl key pressed.

Merry X-mas to all OpenCPN users and developers!

When I tried installing it on top of V2.5, V2.6 came up and showed the welcome screen and that was all. Rebooted same result. So Uninstalled V2.6, deleted the OpenCPN directory and then reinstalled and now it works OK. Operating system is Win7.

Merry Christmas.

80. I knew someone would complain about that
But I shipped it anyway. I need to implement WVS rendering for OpenGL, and it is just not done yet. On my list for next week when I'll be offline anchored in the boondocks.

84. Works for me with US keyboard on Ubuntu. What is your keyboard?

85. Acknowledged. Works on Windows, but not on linux.

Merry Christmas

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1223

Hi Dave,

The new beta is working with Mac OS X 10.5.8 . . . Hooray!!

You obviously fixed the issue with CR/LF in the NMEA data stream as the GPS icon shows connected and the My Ship function has me where my eyes tell me I am!

The menus are in English, although the main menu bar still only contains one drop-down item; "OpenCPN" -- is there supposed to be more items?

When I first launched the new beta (after deleting all files and folders from 2.5) it crashed after connecting to NMEA. Crash log attached if you are interested (renamed with .doc extension, but it's plain text). I relaunched; no problem. Quit and relaunched again; no problem and reacquired NMEA.

So far so good, I will keep track of any issues.

Thanks a million, what a Christmas present!

- nick

Dave & Jean Pierre

I'm using a qwerty Swedish layout key board.

Just tested the same thing on an 32 bit ubuntu eeepc and when pressing Ctrl +/- the result is that nothing at all happens. The keyboard is a qwerty +, what I would call, a "universal scandinavian" layout.

Dave , while I'm at it with the eeepc, a minor thing, after leaving the "Toolbox" with an "OK", the toolbar always end up in the middle of the screen.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1223

Thomas...

I have the same problem with toolbar ending up in the middle of the screen.
Thought it was just me..... I'll look at it next....

On the keyboard thing, to be sure we understand:
I understand that CTRL +/- does not work. How about just +/-, as in previous versions. Does that still work for 1223?

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1223

Thomas...

I think it would be useful if you could do some debug with your specific Scandinavian keyboard(s).

In ddd, set a breakpoint at, say, chcanv.cpp:4071.
Run, hit say CTRL+, catch the break, and inspect some variables.

We are looking for a way to support as many keyboards as possible, without conditional code for each KB style.

Thanks
Dave

Thomas...

On the misplaced toolbar:
A strange effect. After the toolbar has been left in mid-screen, but before closing OCPN, simply rolling over the "grabber" on the right side of the toolbar causes it to jump back home. Odd, but useful characteristic. I'll fix it...

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1223

Folks...

Two reports in this thread of crash/hang after installing 2.6.1223 over 2.5.0, or other previous version.

I cannot reproduce problem.

So, anyone encountering this problem, BEFORE you wipe and reinstall, we need to see the logfile AND the config file before they are erased, please.

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1223

Thomas....

Never mind the debugging.

CTRL +/- does not work for me either. So much for my extensive alpha testing

Simple fix in the code, coming soon.

I include the relevent clause here, so that you may patch and try your Scandinavian keyboard, just to maybe save a step.

chcanv.cpp:4078

Code:
          if(!g_b_assume_azerty)
          {
            switch(key_char)
            {
                  case '+':
                  case '=':
                  case '=' - 64:          // Ctrl =
                  case 26:                // Ctrl Z
                        if ( (m_modkeys == wxMOD_CONTROL) )
                              ZoomCanvasIn(1.1);
                        else
                              ZoomCanvasIn(2.0);
                  break;

                  case '-':
                  case '-' - 64:          // Ctrl -
                  case '_':
                  case 24:                // Ctrl X
                        if ( (m_modkeys == wxMOD_CONTROL) )
                              ZoomCanvasOut(1.1);
                        else
                              ZoomCanvasOut(2.0);
                  break;
            }
          }
Thanks, and have a simple and peaceful X-mas.

When adding this snippet
Code:
case '+' -64:
to your patch, everything works as intended with/without the Ctrl key and on both the numerical and main keypad.
This patch also works fine on the eeepc small keyboard.

Yes, it works like that on my main computer. I'm used to it. What triggered my report was that this trick don't work on the eeepc, and I have to grab the handle and move the toolbar back "manually".

Dave..
Any chance of adding the latest translations to OCPN soon?
I have mailed you the Norwegian translation (Norsk) for the latest beta versions, but I have not seen any changes in the releases yet.

Merry Christmas
