OpenCPN v5.9.1 Beta test starts

Hello all
Here starts the formal Beta test of OpenCPN version 5.9.1.
This Beta series will result in the production release of OpenCPN v5.10.0.

Notes on the Beta process.
1, Please report results of your testing here, or raise a specific issue on the github issues tracker.
2. Please be very specific describing the version of OCPN beta being tested, as tracking bugs during this process is something of a moving target. More detail, tending toward the obsessive, is good here.
3. We also appreciate reports of successful upgrades
4. Some language translations are incomplete. You can help us by visiting the OpenCPN project at crowdin to add and edit translations.

Hi Dave,

FTB successfully installed opencpn_5.9.1-0+1622.b2cbf5a_setup.exe in two windows 11 systems, one x64 and another ARM64.

no problem detected.

still missing the quick access to NMEA debug window.

and another thing because of facing some problems with the GNSS firmware, so Dashboard plugin could show also the date of the system and GNSS date/time.
I've had had this problem twice with my receiver at home, and I had to sent for upgrade firmware (you know GPS date bug) and also now with my BT GNSS receiver (GPS & GLONASS) jumping every second of date/time because received correct positioning from fixed one but incorrect date from BT GNSS (sure GPS date bug) but could not see the date in opencpn, only I can deduct it is because the option of moon age in dashboard jumps every second.

Dave,

in windows the display category (in the chart hamburger) cannot be changed. The popup menu is grey and it does not react to a mouse click. In MacOs it works.

I see the same if I have only RNC, raster, charts open. As soon a ENC, vector, is shown the control is again active. (The Display Category is not applicable for RNCs)

Agreed with raster charts not available, as expected, but with o-charts is available:

I have another machine with Raspi4 (bookworm ARM64), and I want to test this version, but I don't know how to update opencpn, I've followed the instructions for ubuntu without success.

I don't want to install neither flatpack nor openplotter, just by the o.s. itself.

Thanks. This makes sense. However, then all entries (including lights) in the vector chart section should be deactivated .

Should be deactivated in Raster Charts, when it makes sense is in the Vector charts, that these are at last a graphical database with all information available, the raster charts are "photographies" with no info but the display only.

Being in Fiji close to 180E/W, I have to bring these up again, both marked for 5.10 to be resolved:

1. https://github.com/OpenCPN/OpenCPN/issues/3421
   A route crossing the dateline (180E/W) is missing some lines between route points
2. https://github.com/OpenCPN/OpenCPN/issues/3420
   O loses track when crossing dateline (180E/W)

Losing tracks (the second issue), I find particularly severe. I did add a VDR crossing the 180E/W, three weeks ago.

in Spanish is not, try to put in English and check for the text displayed.

Hello, Grib plugin


Hum, I forgot to say that I am on W10. But it is probably unimportant for my topic of intervention in this post and the two previous ones.


- In the home page of the new Grib plugin, I see 7 untranslated items and are not in the language file of the "Grib" plugin.
- In the "Word" page, everything is to be translated and items like the text are not in the language file of the "Grib" plugin.
- In the xygrib page, everything is to be translated and the language file is incomplete in the crowdin.
