Well, these instruments were intended for "recreational" sail boats. This value was expected to be the maximum for most sail boats. We didn't expect OpenCPN to be used on IMOCA, Mod70 or such sailing formula one ;-)

Right now, there's no option for extending that value. If you can compile source code, you can change
Speedometer (SOG) in plugins/dashboard_pi/src/dashboard_pi.cpp line 1879
VMG in plugins/dashboard_pi/src/dashboard_pi.cpp line 2004
and if should work as you want.

Dashboard
Had a small test on an kubuntu machine. When I unplug the nmea, GPS instruments go blank. Perfect, makes it very clear there is no valid data. The wind instruments and compass however remain 'up'.
Not a very consequent behaviour.

Sailor54 and AISEAG works with me. We will finish the job of updating the language file in French. This work focuses on the entire file.
If all goes well, we send our version Friday or Saturday.

Just some questions :
1° What mean this item : "VTS active target" ?
2° Context in which these items appear on the screen they?
- "OpenCPN Route"
- "OpenCPN Track"
- "OpenCPN Waypoint"

B.R Gilletarom.

VTS = Vessel Traffic Services => Le Service du trafic maritime (STM).
Compare these two pages
Pacific - MCTS: Vessel Traffic Services - Canadian Coast Guard
Pacifique - SCTM : Service du trafic maritime - Garde côtière canadienne

Re: OpenCPN Release Candidate Version 3.1.1328 Released

This is a fairly serious bug - though I haven't found anyone else saying anything about it yet. There is no reason why it should just be me experiencing it though. Have experienced it since I first tried OpenCPN on the pi a number of revisions ago.

On raspberry pi, running the raspbian operating system. Straight system install, followed by OpenCPN git download and compilation. No other changes. Did add MEMCacheLimit and NCacheLimit settings to the config file.

Once in a while - rather randomly it seems, the OpenCPN settings are deleted. I start OpenCPN and it acts like its the first time I started it. I have not found a repeatable reason why this would happen. Frustrating. Has there ever been complaints about this before? Don't know where to start on this one...

No previous report on this. Please publish your "opencpn.log". It's enough with your last two sessions.

In fact, we realized that VTS = Vessel Traffic Service. But this does not allow us to achieve a good translation of the full item. This explains our question.
For example, we might translate "Cible prise en charge par le VTS" but obviously this is far from the wording of the item in English.

We have not managed to see this item appear using OCPN. Can you said us in what case this item appear ?

B.R. Gilletarom.

(Cible prise en charge par le VTS =? Target supported by the VTS )

I think that it will only appear in vector charts object queries.
One example: double click on 51 31.0349 N, 001 30.2057 E.
An exact translation is not always possible, as certain thing are expressed totally different in different languages. The important thing is that the reader gets the correct message.(English is not my native tongue!)

Thinking more.......
Will info, like the one the raster chart above, always just be presented in an object query on an ENC chart?
I think that the answer is...yes!

Re: OpenCPN Release Candidate Version 3.1.1328 Released

Hello,

I return to the dysfunction that I reported on the button "Export All That is visble ...". I pointed out that this happens with a thick layer "XXXX" and 537 objects.
There is not another button with which this layer problem. This is the "Delete" button.
It works but it takes a very long time, really long. And I'm not sure that users have the necessary patience.

Should attract the attention of users on this in the help.

Re: OpenCPN Release Candidate Version 3.1.1328 Released

Hello Dave,

In version 3.1.1328, the layers are also exported. In this case, the button "Export All That is visible" can be active in the "Layers" tab.

scimitar, you can still use the SOG indicator instead of the dial. It should display higher speeds.(Sethdart, correct me if I am wrong) You can adjust the size of it's display in Toolbox/plugins/dashboard/appearance.

Hello Dave,

When we use the button "Route print", a window is opened. One of the items is not translated (even it is present in the language file)

Re: OpenCPN Release Candidate Version 3.1.1328 Released

Gilletarom/cagney...

1. "VTS active target" will only appear on certain AIS area messages. Probably not seen in ENC data.

2.- "OpenCPN Route"
- "OpenCPN Track"
- "OpenCPN Waypoint"

These appear as default object names for KML object exports. Actually, I think marking them as translatable is probably wrong, since it may lead to other character set problems in the kml interface code.
You may safely leave them blank.

Thanks
Dave
