hwecken,

dashboard uses the MWD sentence to display the "True wind direction".
MWD may contain "True" as well as "Magnetic" wind direction. For the dial instrument as well as "wind history", dashboard has a fallback implemented, preferring True, if not available using Magnetic, see attachment.
Please check if your NMEA data stream contains the MWD sentence.
If yes, please upload a VDR file.
Wind history uses the same data, that's why it's not working either in your setup.

this has been discussed in the past a couple of times. O displays what it gets via the data stream, you cannot change depth offset in O/dashboard. I guess your instruments export "below keel" ... ?

Re: OpenCPN Release Candidate Version 3.1.1328 Released

Hi All

I think I found a potential problem.

While testing the port multiplexer, I setup two GPS, the main one at priority 3 and a second one at priority 2 expecting that if the main fails, O will continue with the second one.

Not necessarily true. If the main loses its fix, O will stop using it, but will not switch to the other one. It will switch only if I turn that GPS off.

One way around this, is to give both GPS the same priority. O will then alternate between both GPS. If one has invalid data it will be ignored but O will continue to receive a fix (and fill the log).

All that made me think we should have an alarm (optional) when O switches from fix to no-fix, (when the GPS icon turns RED), in case we are not at the screen when this happens.

Hello Thomas,
you are right, in my nmea is no MWD sentence, but there is MWV (Wind Speed and Angle) and HDG (Heading – Deviation & Variation), so TWD could be calculated very easy.

Yes in my case the NMEA sentence is: $IIDPT,001.8,+0.7,*49 , which means:
$--DPT,x.x,y.y*hh
x.x Depth, meters
y.y Offset from transducer;
positive means distance from transducer to water line,
negative means distance from transducer to keel
hh Checksum
So i would expect in the above sample 2,5m in deashboard, not 1,8m as it is now

If you need my NMEA file please send me a PM with your email

Dave,

I believe I'm experiencing an issue related to the above timer. The data from the dashboard disappears for a very brief moment whilst the data is still being consistently received and has been fine in previous versions. Sounds very much like the data being seen as stale too soon.

My setup is:
Windows 8 64 bit
BU-353 USB GPS

Thanks to Dave and everyone who continues to develop this excellent program.

Try the 64 bits Ubuntu package on the OpenCPN.org download page.
The Launchpad package may not have been compiled with support for Port Audio.

Hi Cagney,

you were right, updated again from the original source and the sound works,

thanks for your answer.

- How will Nohal get this information to compile it with the port audio support?

Hi Nohal,

please look at post #21 - #23, there might be a bug in your compiled download,

Re: OpenCPN Release Candidate Version 3.1.1328 Released

Hello Dave,

Here below, I translate two posts that I read on a french forum. The first post was writed by XXXXX using 3.0.2. The second post is writed by an other french sailor ZZZZZ
-----
First post:
I can not send from my nav software Open CPN road on my GPS Furuno GP-32. I'm fine with no problem so Maxsea connections ordinary Gps or procedural problem with the GPS.
When I send to GPS, I hold well on the GPS reception and data on the computer, it tells me when the upload is completed the transfer is successful. Against by the GPS does not react!
-----
Second post:
I too have a Furuno GP32 and I had the same the same symptoms as XXXXX.
As proposed by YYYYY, I installed version 3.1.1328 Beta of OpenCPN.
Actually it works better.
Not yet fully anyway!
The route is not transferred as such. Only waypoints except the first which does not appear in the GPS.
But it's even better.
-----

With no material furuno, I send two messages for information.

sjf...

Regarding Dashboard watchdog timeout...

Can you post a vdr recording of a stream that exhibits dropouts? We should be ablt to extract the required timing info from the embedded RMC messages...

Thanks
Dave

RE: 171. Implement multi-selection capability for RouteManagerDialog lists, especially "Delete"

After you select several way points using the shift left click, three buttons, on the right, remain active New, Delete, Delete All.
1. I would think some users would find "Delete All" confusing. They might think that they are deleting all of the selected W.P. To eleminate confusion I would not activate the "Delete All" button
2. I would also deactivate the "New" button, as it doesn't make sense in this context.
3. I would really like to see the "Send to GPS" activated as I could stop using G7toWin.
4. I'm notso sure about the "Import gpx" and "Export All Visable" in this context; maybe others could comment.

Hello translators...

I have today posted new and updated .po files on the github master repo.
These will add several translatable strings that were missed in the 1328 RC, especially the ones pointed out by Gilletarom.

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Release Candidate Version 3.1.1328 Released

Hello tester...

OK, the first bona fide bug in RC1328 has been found.

Occasionally, uploading routes and waypoints to GPS receivers may skip the initial point, thus rendering the uploaded route incomplete and invalid.
This bug should only affect the route/waypoint upload procedure, with no other side effects anticipated.

Lets keep torturing this RC relentlessly, so that we may capture all the bugs for our next Candidate. Also, please keep those translations coming in. I believe that the .po files are all complete now.

Thanks
Dave

Ok Dave, I downloaded the pot file on master branch.
Sailor54 and AISEAG works with me. We will finish the job of updating the language file in French. This work focuses on the entire file.
If all goes well, we send our version Friday or Saturday.

Just some questions :
1° What mean this item : "VTS active target" ?
2° Context in which these items appear on the screen they?
- "OpenCPN Route"
- "OpenCPN Track"
- "OpenCPN Waypoint"
