Re: OpenCPN Internationalization ( i18n )

Found something strange when translating.
Tested the files I translated and this occured... See picture.

There are duplicate lines, one in Norwegian and one in english or even two of each. The red ones has two different versions of Norwegian and one English..

Anyone else with the same problem?

I can only find one of each in the po file...

This can happen if you switch a lot back and forth between older releases and newer betas, using the same opencpn.ini file. The format for storing font settings was changed a while a go, since the old multiple-language format was rather broken. The upgrade conversion works OK for users who upgrade once, but if you keep switching back and forth you can confuse to system...

It is easy to clear up by just emptying the [Settings/MSWFonts] section in your opencpn.ini

Re: OpenCPN Internationalization ( i18n )

Did a fresh install again, copied over the new translation, without starting OCPN.
Much fewer options, but I still have one duplicate.
* StatusBar and Statuslinje which is the same (English and Norwegian)...

Cleared the [Settings/MSWFonts] section and started OCPN again, that cleared it out.
Changed between English and Norwegian a few times and it seems to be working fine.

One more thing:
Is it or will it be possible to translate the settings in "Mariners Standard"?

Yes that's why the format was changed. Previously you would loose your settings back to default when switching.

Well... Kind of. Not using the PO file but you can provide a translated s57objectclasses.csv file for your users if you want. It will have to be copied manually, and will stay Norwegian if the user switches back to English. (The file is in the s57data folder)

Re: OpenCPN Internationalization ( i18n )

Hello JesperWe, hello Dave,

With OpenCPN 3.1.919, there are now at least 4 items witch are present twice in the area "Fonts" in the toolbox/user interface. They are present one in English, and one in french (Using an french file language)

There is :
Console value -----> Valeur de la console
Console legend -----> Légende de la console
Status barr -----> Barre d'état
Tooltips -----> Outils de renseignement

It is the same problem that HotRod said previously.

See screen copy.

Best regards

Gilletarom

More :

I destroy MSW sttings as said by Hot Rod, and now, it seem that all is OK.

Re: OpenCPN Internationalization ( i18n )

This is a (totally) new translation of opencpn.pot into modern greek. Unfortunately I did not know how to test it in the program. Thus, some terms may be too long for the available spaces, or endings for verbs/adjectives etc. may be grammatically wrong.

Three questions:

1. Does the term "Yat" correspond to "Yacht"? Where in the program does this appear?
2. Do the terms "Card N" etc. correspond to "Cardinal point north" or "Cardinal mark/beacon north"?
3. Is there a translation for the HELP text and/or the list of options in the "Mariner's Standard" preferences, and the other lists?

Thank you all for your efforts,

Alexandros Gotsis

Testing: rename your .mo file to opencpn.mo and copy it to:
<install location>\share\locale\el_GR\LC_MESSAGES\opencpn.m o

1. Yes, it is in the set of shortened vessel types for AIS. They are part of the system but AFAICS we never actually use short type, only long.

2. This is also AIS Shortened type. Cardinal Beacons.

3. "Mariner's Standard" preferences: See my reply to Frode a few posts back. Help text: No. No one has had the energy to do that so far.

Re: OpenCPN Internationalization ( i18n )

Thanks for the tips.

I completed the modern greek translation files with the new entries, checked them as fas as I could and I am sending them again. I hope that they are now OK and can be included in the next program edition.

Thanks

Alexandros

Re: OpenCPN Internationalization ( i18n )

Hello,

Here join, the last french language file for OpenCPN V 3.1.919

It seems to me that it would be nice if the language files (and those of other languages) was included in the next beta. Indeed, there are many changes of item and presentation of items, particularly in the context menus.
This would allow the recovery of criticism.

Best regards

Gilletarom.
