Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1419 Released

Dave,Nohal

A big thanks APB has made life en route so much easier as its the only sentence my AP listens for.

One related question, from a mathematical view and not understanding Dave's code he quoted.

Subtract a positive variance would also mean adding a negative variance.
Is this covered??

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1419 Released

Another bug in the MDA sentence I think. I'm posting on this thread as the MDA sentence has been discussed quite a bit here.

Air temperature is not displayed in the dashboard.

The logs that I previously posted for the TW recording issue will show it as being present.

I still have a problem with barometric pressure but that is an issue with the Actisense NMEA 2000 to NMEA gateway not converting the HPa/MB substring of the sentence properly so I only get 10mBar changes.

Did you report back to Actisense? They are usually quite quick fixing issues like this.

Yes I did. The data is passed through but not translated in some way hence the units are screwed up, or something.

Just found the email from Vlad at Actisense and the relevant info is this

"
What is actually happening is the value is in Pascals (like in NMEA 2000). The 0183 spec requires Inches of Mercury so the value is incorrect. The value for Bars is accurate and correctly formatted."

And this is an example of the MDA sentence received from the Actisense converter

$IIMDA,102200.0,P,1.02,B,5.3,C,6.3,C,,,,C,223.89,T ,,M,14.70,N,7.56,M*28

Cheers

Just having another look at the data and indeed Actisense are sending it (the barometric pressure) to NMEA0183 as "Bar" and not "mB" hence the loss of precision. However the first field P (Pascal) is correct. Could this be added to the plugin as an option? i.e. as Actisense NGW compatibility mode or something?

I have new data recorded with VDR that I can upload if required but I don't think anything has changed since my last upload.
