The command "Send to GPS" appears in the tab "Road" and in the tab "Waypoint", manager of roads and waypoint.
If a route exists, the command "Send to GPS" appears in the context menu of the waypoint route but not in the context menu of the road.
Is this intended or is this an oversight?
Answer:
Oversight, I guess. The original idea of the context menu additions for "Send to GPS" was as a simple shortcut for single points. No reason Routes should not also participate.

In the language file, there is the item: RenderHPGL: The '% s' command is not implemented.

This is an error message, which is not translated normally. It is an error in the code. Please ignore this RenderHPGL. It will disappear from the next .po

For "T", there is a button on the iconbarr. It is immediately easy to repair. For the other shortcuts, if you do not know them, you must go to the options for correcting chance. It's too complicated.
In my opinion, must review all the keyboard shortcuts that can be obtained directly by a single key.

And here's my opinion.
For the "r" suppression i do agree. It's not obvious if stones are toggled away.
For the "A", "S", "T" and "L" I do like them and use it frequently. And I like the key board fast hitting instead of fumbling for the mouse.
For all four it's more or less obvious when corresponding information is missing. If you see no ground shape you'll miss it if needed. If you see no soundings you'll miss it, deep contures are still there. No lights and text are also obvious.

We must put safety before our habits.
Dave, is it possible to change the keystroke shortcuts adding to each Ctrl or Alt ?.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.1.1309 Released
Hi All,
I've seen that using a TCP data connection a lot of Dashboard instruments are not working (AWA, AWS, TWA, TWS, TWD, Water Speed, Heading, Depth and probably others); with the same NMEA data through a serial data connection they are working correctly.

There is a problem with the item "Other". It can be made use of item imposed by the IMO ... I do not know.
But if I look in the initialization file, I see that all objects are checked. therefore, they are all visible.
And this is not obvious to the user, even for those who have some experience with OpenCPN.
Long ago, that in the French file, I put "Tout" ie "All" instead of "Autre", ie "Other".
And to this day, none of the French speaking users has disputed this.
Is it possible to replace in the English file "Other" by "All" or my idea is problem?

In the version 3.1.1309 the course prediction line for AIS Targets does not work. Anyone has an answer to that?

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.1.1309 Released
Stefano...
Regarding TCP messages not affecting Dashboard:
It appears that your TCP stream does not have \r\n (carriage return, line feed) ending characters on the sentences. That cause Dashboard to mark these sentences as invalid.
What is the generating source of the TCP data shown in your screenshot?

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.1.1309 Released
Once again we are talking about a IHO S-52 standard.
Look here -> http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...,d.bGE&cad=rja
From the document
Quote:
2.3.3a
IMO categories
The IMO "Standard Display" provides a starting point. It is a list of objects that the
mariner may either add further objects to, or remove objects (except Display Base)
from, in deciding what is to be displayed. Note that as soon as any object on this list
is removed from the display, or any object not on this list is added to the display, the
display no longer shows the IMO "Standard Display".
The IMO "Display Base" is that part of the Standard Display that should never be
removed. It is a list of basic objects which the IMO consider are required at all times,
in all geographic areas and under all circumstances. Note that the IMO do not intend
the Display Base to be sufficient for safe navigation on its own; therefore it should not
be a display option to "Show Display Base" without any additions.
The IMO category "Other Information" contains every object in the SENC which is not
classed as "Standard Display".

I think that we should follow the standard as far as possible, and not come up with new "words", even if the existing ones, seems far from "clever".
The meaning of "Other" is explained in the documentation.
If users don't read the documentation, it's at their own risk.
There is more than one way to screw up with a vector display, in a way that is not possible with raster charts. It's important to know what you are doing.
Navigators on commercial vessels has to sit an exam for each ECDIS system on board. Nevertheless, accidents still happens because of the wrong vector chart settings. Go through the reports on Marine Accident Investigation: Home for actual cases.
There is a lesson to learn here: Know all your settings, at all times, and how they will affect the display.

Honestly, Thomas, I can't agree in the case of the 'other' option, although I do very much support the idea that O should respect established professional standards...
Thanks for spelling out the meaning of 'other' within IHO S-52, but it seems clear to me that you can't expect users to be familiar with that document. So, 'other' leaves the users clueless for what is a major setting choice.
'All' will hint in a positive way on what it does... and can only lead to screen cluttering...
