Re: No serial port

Stop the VNC server and the USB device will be available for other applications.

No change without VNC.

Re: No serial port

Did you confirm you are able to access the port from other application in flatpak? And if not working, from other application that is not a flatpak install?

Re: No serial port

GPSD is working. I don't know if it concerns flatpak or not.
What sort of application could I try to test?

Re: No serial port

GPSD is running the whole time you do this?

Re: No serial port

I will try again... Only one application at a time can use a serial device. If GPSD is using it, nothing else can.
Either stop GPSD and you will be able to use the serial device directly from OpenCPN or another application or configure OpenCPN to use the data shared by GPSD instead of trying to use the serial connection, that is what GPSD is for.

Re: No serial port

Yes, but I need to connect AIS and GPS repeater. With serial connections, isn't it?
I need also GPSD for GPS time.

Re: No serial port

Only one application at a time can use a serial device, period. There is nothing you can do about that hardware limitation.

If you want to configure a serial connection in OpenCPN, you must not use the same device in GPSD.

OpenCPN does understand the GPSD protocol. If you still need NMEA 0183 for some reason and want to use GPSD, there are tools like https://github.com/itemir/rpi_boat_u...ster/gpsd2nmea

Re: No serial port

ok, thank you Nohal.
I understand why I can't connect my GPS with a serial connection, but I can't connect AIS or repeater in another USB port: opencpn doesn't detect any port. Is it because of GPSD?

Re: No serial port

Repeat exactly the same procedure, the same applies to any serial device. It can only be used by one application at a time. As soon as something acquires it, no other application can use it.

Re: No serial port

Thinking is not good enough in this case, you need to confirm that the devices are actually visible in the system and usable, until then any troubleshooting on flatpak or OpenCPN level makes no sense.
