No Tore.

Copy/Paste does not need any files stored anywhere.

Jesper..

Sounds very good,I suppose it works both ways?
I can use the same method to copy the files directly into my Android OruxMaps
directory,great time saver. Thanks...

Yes. Between O and QtVlm it works both ways, round trip with most settings preserved.

Ehh... no. Copy/paste only works between two applications running on the same device.

As you see,I have direct access from my PC to my Galaxy S II/OruxMaps directory which contains all the .gpx files, so copy/paste should not be a problem I think. The same should be possible with any Android phone.

I assume that you are using the standard Windows copy/paste facility,if not,I think it would be a good idea to also make it available in the standard Windows copy/paste buffer for use with other navigation facilities including Android based smartphones.

Yes we are. And no it still will not paste on your phone. Unless you have some superduper integration kit that shares the paste buffer between the two devices? AFAIK the standard Android drivers does not provide this service.

If you, on the PC, paste the content of the paste buffer into a document opened from your phones disk you can the access the result on the phone, of course.

Note in that case that the format we are using here is KML, not GPX.

Re: Integration with QtVlm - Data files and import/export

Jesper..

Thanks for the explanation.. Would it be difficult for you to have a ´Save as GPX ´ option? Or otherwise,as you say, save it to Notepad.

The attached interface allows me to perform file transfers between PC and my Galaxy and v.v. OruxMaps uses .gpx format for routes, tracks and wpt´s.

There does not seem to be a way to directly import .gpx routes into qtVml.
Most programs use the .gpx format for routes.

How do you mean? We've had "Save as GPX" for ages...?

Re: Integration with QtVlm - Data files and import/export

Jesper.. Yes of course,wasn´t thinking....

If I wanted to use old routes in .gpx format to create a maximized ´grib´route in qtVlm,how would you solve that as qtVlm does not seem to accept .gpx imports?

Tried converting .gpx to .xml using GPSBabylon but the resulting file was not readable.

Load the route in OpenCPN, right click on it to Copy, switch to QtVlm, Paste. Done.

...and then of course, right click on the resulting optimized route in QtVlm, Copy, switch to OpenCPN, Paste.

Now your original route is overlayed with the optimized track, and the ETA, wind etc for each waypoint is available on the OpenCPN waypoints.

Re: Integration with QtVlm - Data files and import/export

qtVlm can now also import/export a klm from a file, not only from the clipboard. One of the advantage of using kml versus gpx is that qtVlm route's settings are kept

maitai/Jesper..

Yes,thanks to both of you,GREAT job... looking forward to using it..

maitai... where can I download your latest version allowing .kml
imports? I can only find my present version 3.2.8 path 3 for 32 bit
on Sourceforge or your page?

Re: Integration with QtVlm - Data files and import/export

When the next OCPN version has the facility to copy/paste to/from qtVml, the planning and maximizing of routes will be very easy just by switching between the dual screens.

I have set up a special POI which will also enable me to copy the .kml file to my KML
directory and send it as an attachment to an email to my Galaxy S II mailbox.
My OruxMaps app can then access the route details from this mailbox.
Easy way to do it without any hard connection,WiFi or bluetooth.

Re: Integration with QtVlm - Data files and import/export

I found a great way to copy/paste optimized route files from qtVlm or OpenCPN to Android based smartphones.

The apps are FREE..

FTP Server and ES File Explorer, working together to set up an easy two-way link between your PC and smartphone.

Especially convenient for OruxMaps nav. prog.
