GPS Tracking Problems

Hi everyone, My first post! I have setup an old laptop with OpenCPN and a Globsat BU-353 GPS reciever, everything seems to be working great, apart from the tracking feature. When I toggle tracking on, it draws a lovely curvy line as I make my journey, but soon that curvy line changes into straight lines with a sharp elbow on a recent change of direction. Is there some way to keep the tracking line smooth with round curves?

Thanks in advance for any help!

go to the toolbox,
Etc,
place trackpoints at shorter intervals than 60 seconds .....

if your gps-signal is not obstructed by buildings or so , should work better now , but your track takes more memory

Rik nailed it.

The software is just plotting a line from "Last Known Location" to "Current Location".
If the polling is too long in duration it will not draw the details of your path cleanly.
Think of it as drawing a face using "Connect the dots" with only 3 dots instead of 300. Same principle.

I have that GPS puck btw and I love it. Make sure to research the latest drivers for it as well. I remember having a headache trying to find the right update on their website.
