Trouble Installing OpenCPN

I upgraded my panasonic toughbook to win 2000 so I could install latest version of opencpn down, loaded service pack 4 and installed fine .Installed windows installer KB893803 3.1 kb893803 fine.I then tried to install,as recomended in the install instructions Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86),but it won't install recieve message the procedure entry point heapsetinformation could not be located dynamic link library kernal32.dll.opencpn is installed but when i run Irecieve message dynamic link library MSVCP90.dll could not be found in the specified path, any help would be appriecated cheers

That's odd.I had exactly ythe same message from my Toughbook on boat but it's XP SP1 straight from the disc.Only MS update is the wireless and the daylightsavings...
To get newest openCPN to work I chanced on this from my pile of keepers.
I installed vcredist_x86.exe file version 9.0.30729.17 which is also called Visual C++ 2008 but it nowhere says "SP1".

If nobody smarter comes along compare the version with yours in "Properties" If it is different,and you can't find it online, PM me...
