Disable "click to center"

Hi!

Is there an option to disable the "click to center" feature?

I know that there is the touch screen option but that's not what I want since it changes some other behavior.

Best regards,
Bernhard

Bernhard..
No not really. I single click center to cursor and a double click open the query dialog for a object under the cursor.
Dependent on your intention there's an option to "Center to cursor" (while zooming) at Options->Display->General. But the one click center will remain also when "Center to cursor" is enabled.

Re: Disable "click to center"

Oh, "zoom to cursor" is a cool feature, I just tried it.

But probably this topic could be taken as a feature request/suggestion to make the mouse click behavior configurable.

It would also be cool to have a "focus follow mouse" in the split screen view instead of always having to click into a canvas to get the focus.

Best regards,
Bernhard

Maybe. I'm not convinced but that's as usual to once mind. Once used to the click function I find one gets used to and like it.

To get the mouse wheel zoom function it's enough to keep the cursor over desired Canvas independent of actual focus.
Another method to switch focus is to use the Tab key. The focus indicator is a blue band at the top of each Canvas.

Well, everybody gets used to everything just if you use something long enough...which doesn't automatically mean that it's good

Many modern slippy map web interfaces do open some object info box as soon as you single click on the object.

So every time I start OpenCPN after a while of having it not used I erratically jump around at first because I try to open info boxes by single-clicking objects. And it takes some time to learn again that it behaves different and I have to double-click or right-click.

Best regards,
Bernhard

Re: Disable "click to center"

I noticed that clicking to center doesn't work when creating a route and measuring. And this would be very convenient, I saw something similar on the MFD Furuno TZT. But clicking to center sometimes annoys when selecting objects on the map, sometimes the screen starts jumping. It would be nice to have a disable option.

Baikal..
Yes, one click center will not work creating a route, that will place a mark. When needed you can move the screen using the arrow keys and +- zoom. Or hold the cursor near a screen edge and it will move.
If the screen is "jumping" it may be caused by an active Auto follow "Look ahead mode"? Disable that before a track creation. (Short key F2)
