Hi Bruce, maybe I can help. I believe the window is +/- x days from the date selected. I did a quick test with cyclone Tomas passing Fiji on March 15th 2010. When selecting "Display Spanning" = 1 day, it shows a very short track over the Lau island. When increasing the value, the track grows both ways, start and end.

Be warned, the dataset for cyclones ends in 2011...

Re: Climatology

Thanks, Dirk. Appreciate that.
Sean, anyway to include more recent cyclone activity in the dataset?
Cheers,
Bruce

Re: Climatology

On my Linux, Kubuntu 23.10 it installed ok from the list of plugin, but it would not show up until I restarted O.
Working ok, but I can only see Wind, Current and Cyclones.
Where can I get latest data for Rain, Temperature etc?

Re: Climatology

Sean and I built the dataset years ago. Sean and I would find sources of data. I would download the data, and Sean sent me scripts to filter and compress each data set. Then we joined the data sets and Sean created Climatology which provides in essence "Pilot Charts" in a type of grib format... It is 30 years of NoAA and other data. The data sources have changed, Sean has changed his focus as have I.

Climatology is still very useful for planning long voyages with weather_routing_pi and extending grib files that are too short.

Yes the weather has changed but the basics are still there, don't know how long that will be...though.

SPIV use grib_pi. Its built in to Opencpn.
