CHS Charts in OpenCPN on Mac

I have purchased CHS (Canadian Hydrographic Service) raster charts which work with the demo version of MACENC on my iMac. I can't seem to get them to work with OpenCPN. These charts have a .BAP file extension. Suggestions??

I'm afraid you will need to use the BSB4 plugin:
https://www.opencpn.org/OpenCPN/plugins/bsb4.html
But sadly this plugin is only available for the Windows operating system and not for macOS.
More about CHS you may find here:

Thanks for the reply Gerhard. It is too bad this plugin won't work on a Mac with an Intel CPU. My final goal was to make a chart plotter using a Raspberry Pi. Does anyone know of suitable charts of Canada that would run under MacOS on an Intel CPU machine or on a Raspberry Pi system?

CHS vector charts (S57) will work on OpenCPN, for all platforms, including Mac.

But, but......they are very expensive.....

They are not BAP extension but CAP extension. You need to have the installations permit from CHS first and they will work OK.
Good luck.

Thanks for the reply Thomas. Yes, I see what you mean by vey expensive! A mute point as they seem only available for commercial waterways, not the Rideau Canal System (Ottawa to Kingston) and the ottawa River (Montreal to headwaters), which are used by pleasure crafts.

Re: CHS Charts in OpenCPN on Mac

P_Dub, Thanks for the post. Here is a typical CHS chart file that I bought from FUGAWI, a CHS seller and works with the demo version of MacENC: 15*9A04.BAP. I have replaced one of the numbers with '*' to avoid copyright issues. What is the .CAP extension that you refer to?
