Which is what I also stated in my previous postings. I am not trying to compete with OpenSeaMap. MY versions just have a colour enhancement for better contrast and sports the same OpenSeaMap logo.

I downloaded some of the files from sourceforge, and it is definately worth considering the color scheme. Also the detail level and other options. It looks like OSEAM is rendered using standard OSM style, maybe that could be changed a bit?

Please Note
I've had to re-name some of my chart names. If any of the download links do not work, please let me know and I will post the latest link.
I've tried to enhance the charts by giving all land areas a green hue and the sea areas a blue colour found in many commercial charts.

Marco,
I've built the whole portfolio you've georeferenced. Wow, great work. No problems so far, I will definitely post if I find anything. Thanks for this great contribution!

Marco,
Thanks' for your efforts with the New Zealand charts. They are going to be a great asset for Kiwi boaties and we are indebted to you. I attempted some calibrations, but couldn't get the accuracy of your charts.
I am however having trouble using NZ5324 which won't pan correctly and tends to jump to the edge of the chart. Could you please have a look at this.

Ciao Cam,
NZ5324 highlights one OCPN problem in calculating the georeferencing polynomials (in fact NZ5324 works fine in seaclear).
Let me explain: OCPN (and seaclear) needs to calculate 4 polynomials to make conversions between lat/lon to image x/y and from x/y to lat/long (so image x= poly1(lat,lon) y=poly2(lat,lon) lat=poly3(x,y) lon=poly4(x,y))
In this way OCPN can always match a single point in the chart (x/y) with the relative lat/lon and every lat/lon with the corresponding x/y on the chart. These polys are calculated from the reference points using something like a least square polinomial approximation.
Well. the problem is that depending on the ref points position the algoritm can fail in finding appropriate polys (the problem may be ill-conditioned)
In the NZ5324 there are 15 ref point placed approximately equispaced on three rows (5+5+5) in upper, medium and lower area of the chart.
In this case OCPN seems to try to calculate a 3 order poly: this is fine for x direction (you have 5 independent points) but not for the y direction (having only 3 rows you can calculate at most a second order poly).
I think OCPN will need a more refined georeferentiation algorithm in the future able to choose the right order in the most of the cases. Anyway I'll release a correction to the calibration file to avoid the OCPN issue (the solution is just to add a couple of row of ref points).
If you can't wait for next release, open latest CHARTCAL.DIR with a text editor and substitute the [NZ5324.PNG] section with the following one. Save and then rebuild NZ5324 with kapgen.
And please: keep continuing testing the charts (check also thinks like the spelling....).
Ciao, Marco.

Marco,
Isn't a Georef bug note warranted in the tracker or is it on the map already?

Thanks Marco.. that one worked fine.
The only other issue I've come across is with NZ4111. It should be "Three Kings Islands"

The OpenSeaMap production of large maps from popular sea areas is gaining momentum. Have a look at the Sourceforge Openseamap page.
I have performed some graphical enhancements to most of these charts,an example of which is the English Channel you can zoom in x 5. Have a look:
After the Duesseldorf Boat Show, all major lighthouses will be placed automatically, leaving other sea marks to be placed by local participants in the OpenSeaMap editing scheme. I tested it yesterday and it really works well and is easy to use once you have registered as an editor. Updating the universal charts is presently done manually and usually takes a couple of days. Later this will be done automatically.
The BIG remaining problem is how to obtain depth information. In the meantime it is easy to switch between cm93 and OpenSeaMap.

Almost too good to be true, but,it is now possible to produce ANY size charts from OpenSeaChart, now compatible in BOTH OpenCpn,SeaClear AND OziExplorer... It was just a question of finding the right
tools...
The attached OziExplorer chart cover the area from Edinburgh to Brest.

Would anybody be able to explain to me what it would require to include S63 into OpenCPN?
Is it impossible? Does it require payment of any kind of license for any API. Or does the 'key' to see and read the S63 maps follow the map and thus being independent of the navigation-program? What's the task seen from a programming point of view?

I think I got some answers here:
''The software application will be able to decrypt the cell keys using the HW_ID stored in either the hard lock or soft lock devices attached to or programmed within the application to subsequently decrypt and uncompress the ENC data. The CRC value contained within the ENC [1] can then be verified to establish the integrity of the underlying S57 data.'
