It seems starting OCPN first, and THEN pluging in the USB AIS interface makes OCPN retain all AIS targets.

Hi Tore,
Starting up
Open CPN without teh AIS plugged in doesn't
work with me. After plugging in the AIS does not appear on the
screen.
But I found a possible solution (for Windows 7), at least it keeps working a much longer time:
In the Windows 7 menu choose: "Computer" and right click on it. then choose "proporties", and the "device manager". Click on
Ports (COM & LPT) choose the comport you use for the AIS and doubleclick on it (probably the prolific USB to
Serial Comm Port....) then click on "port settings".
Windows 7 uses the standard speed for this port on 9600 bps, I tried to change this to 38400, but that didn't give any result, BUT: Click on "advanced" and than change the speed: 1. Recieve buffer from high 14 to 8 and Transmit buffer from high 14 to 10 and than save.
So far it keeps working now for over an hour. On my AIS object list are currently 100 (!) AIS ships visible. I am at
anchor, so not moving. So I haven't tested it while sailing.
Maybe this gives an idea where to find the problem?
