one question I have re: AIS in opencpn. How do you set it to just show the targets and not the vectors. The vectors really clutter my screen...

Please go to Settings (the wrench symbol) and under Ships and there the AIS tab you will find a bunch of options to tailor the information shown to your preferences.

And if you take yourself the time to browse through the excellent manual (link at the "?"/Questionmark icon) you will probably discover a lot more goodies in order to make OpenCPN your favorite navigation program.

Thanks for your suggestions. The operating system is Windows XP and the OpenCPN version is 3.0.2.

This is probably a version of bug FS#988 , that is fixed in the new Beta 3.3.604.
