The placebo effect is a real effect

Placebo effect is real. Who cares if it's chicken gizzards or copper sheets. If it works, then who is the wiser ?

Well if you did that you'd sure as heck find out if you had a deck leak.

Re: is there a reason

Well, this thread went sideways in a hurry....

Actually I am curious as well, I have a SSB for the first time, came with the boat..not really needed here in the great lakes...but I have a paper thin copper band down my centerline running aft....so I am curious if they are related as well. I am assuming so, but we all know about assuming something...

If it were for a counterpoise, better to connect to those water tanks .

It certainly pays to be skeptical of everything in life, everything - quackery, chicken gizzards, big pharma - but when something is shown to work, in the dim and distant past it would have been investigated as to why it worked, instead of coming up with a zillion reasons why it cannot work (and usually because there is no possibility of profit in that particular research). But that's for another forum...

I think that worked for the famous D. J. copper

No, what you describe is one reasonably normal groundplane setup for a HF radio. They come in many forms, yours is just one. What the OP describes is what happens to people to don't apply a HEALTHY amount of scepticism to life. (The previous owner of the boat, the PO, not the OP, if you follow me.)

I was thinking though, the OP might be able to make some kind of clever groundplane out of the sheets and see how well they work. Maybe there is a HF groundplane that can double as a radiation shield while you sleep, though once you start transmitting on the HF all bets are off.

Tree-hugger-style freaks. To reflect negative radiation of water pools.

Lita edjukation is a dangerus dink.

Re: is there a reason

Well we removed the said copper sheet and have suffered no ill effects though the chicken isn't doing so well, so now we have sufficient copper to up grade our hats, Ideal wear for fending off lightning strikes
Cheers for the laughs
