Tacktic wind transducer

I have a older pre-2005 Tacktic wind transducer that has quit spinning.
I have located a rebuild kit at Defender however, it states its for the later model transducer.
Does anyone have any experience dealing with one of these, my question would be do any of the new parts work with the older units.
I do understand Raymarine bought out Tacktic but the product is still pretty much the same and still widely used.
Also, another question I would have is they do sell the whole transducer separate from the display, I wonder if the newer transducer would talk to my older display.
Thanks and happy holidays to all!

Re: Tacktic wind transducer

I had the same older unit as yours. It gradually failed over a couple of years, first with the speedo starting to seize, and then with the direction transmitter or sensor dying completely. I contacted Raymarine. They had me ship it back to their repair depot. After a few weeks they sent me a whole new unit and display (or perhaps a refinished one?). We were charged $466 (US) for the "repair." Pretty good deal since a new unit costs around $1200.
