Question ST50 Plus Night Illumination No Longer Working

Hi there. I've contacted Raymarine on the issue and as they no longer support this wonderful outdated product they can't help on the issue of the displays no longer illuminating. Has anyone had this issue and been successful with repairing it themselves?
Many thanks.

Cheers.

Re: ST50 Plus Night Illumination No Longer Working

I have this issue also. Hopefully we can revive this thread and someone might know the answer.
I personally believe it is just a bulb issue, but I am loathe to crack open the gauge without at least seeking advice first.

Thanks all...

I got a ST50 wind speed display from England, I googled my way around and found a person that was doing refurbushing (sp) work for ST50 gauges etc.

I have a Raymarine SL72 Radar that has no back light, the wire to the bulb is no longer connected to the PCB so no power and if I could find out where to refix it problem may be solved

If you just need to know the solder point then try the Raymarine Technical Forum. Raymarine techs answer questions there...mostly for older unsupported gear.

kenisall-
Does that ST50 come apart with screws and a seal? Or is it glued or ultrasonically welded together? If the latter, the factory procedure is to throw away the case and use a new one, because they often crack on opening and can't be resealed properly. That's a gamble you may or may not want to take.
If it unscrews, it is never a big deal to locate and replace bulbs. Although it may take you a week to find matching new ones.

Thanks.

Web site is still active so that's a good sign (www.positivemarine.com).
