SVB24 are very good, they'll get them in for you if out of stock. Was the same for Halo+ radars, nowhere had any but SVB managed to get one in a few days.

Yes that is a superior setup. I recommend to use a wifi gateway instead of a wired converter so that any lightning strikes don’t get into the nmea2000 network.

This is easy to do with an NMEA2000 Wifi gateway from Yacht Devices in the NMEA2000 network and a NMEA0183 wifi gateway connected to the wind instrument. The NMEA2000 Wifi gateway will do the conversion.
