Raymarine Radar Connection Help

I bought a used Radar on ebay which came with cut cable and an extra bit of cable etc with a 13 hole plug.
I sent of an email to raymarine to ask advice and they said they had never heard of a 13 pin plug?
I want to connect it to a Raymarine E120W.
The model of Radar is RD418D.
I also have a SeaTalk switch although if I could put radar direct to E120W that would be best option.

Can anyone help please.Click image for larger version

Re: Raymarine Radar Connection Help

I will check my setup this weekend as I have same radar and plotter. Ping me direct next week if I don't respond sooner.

That does not look like a digital radar. That looks like the older analog radome.

Looking up the E120W manual, I don't see a way to connect an analog radar to that MFD.

The plug definitely looks like an older analogue version, but on the bottom of the radar it says it is a RD418D. Looking on internet pictures the RD418D seems to have a screw in cable attachment but this one is hard wired into the it?

Yikes _ totally glosssed over the digital radar bit. The 418D is not going to work with the E120. You need something like this...Raymarine 2D M92650-S Pathfinder C70 C80 C120 E80 E120 18" 2kW Radome Radar

likely only going to find this on eBAY or second hand shops. I got one from Second Wind sales.

Re: Raymarine Radar Connection Help

The old E120 is not the same as the newer E120W. The old E120 is analogue radar, the new E120W is digital radar.

The radar cable pictured with the RD418D is definitely an analogue cable.

Ah the fine details. Correct - E120 is analogue and I verfiied mine uses that type of cable in OP's pic. So OP may just need to find a digital cable?

Re: Raymarine Radar Connection Help

Its weird as its definitely not a digital cable, I can only surmise that someone has put a different sticker on the bottom. I think I need to have a look on the inside and try and work out what the radar model is.
Thank you for your help.

My C80, home for the winter up here, has 13 pins as it is sitting next to me.

Re: Raymarine Radar Connection Help

If I remeber correctly, we have RD418D unit.
Our MFD us certainly E120W.
The cable connecting radar to MFD is Ethernet cable. Certainly.

OK. I have referred to the original post.
Anyway, I guess that the connecting cable is usually an Ethernet cable and not of the Seatalk/NMEA variety.
