How old was your drive when the clutch showed problems?

Re: Raymarine Linear II Autopilot Spare Parts?

Mark I, have no way of knowing exactly. I, purchased the boat 2 years ago and had a 1100 mile trip home it worked fine the entire trip. After speaking with RM I would guess 10 plus years. The problem arose a week ago after being out for a day sail. The auto would engage the clutch and standby would not release it completely. You could turn the helm but with resistance after two or three manual turns it would release. The clutch looked fine but I am told dust builds up and creates this problem.

Re: Raymarine Linear II Autopilot Spare Parts?

Thanks. Our old B&G hydraulic linear drive clutch also failed at 11yrs, so it isn't a specific RM thing.
