Is there any reason why I can't remove and replace a SeaTalk(1) connector? I need to route through some places where the connector is physically too large. I can cut, strip, crimp and or solder, so the mechanics of the job are not an issue for me. I was wondering about the electrical ramifications of doing so.
As I recall, Seatalk cable connectors are molded on, so any reconnection would be by splicing (or term. strip).
Other than introducing some resistance through this new splice, I cannot think of any electrical issue. Properly executed, a splice won't be significant.
