Need some Recommendations

VHF - wireless remote mike. I've seen a few models in which most all the VHF's functions are available on their wireless remote mike. Do get DSC capable

I've got an Icom 402 and a 422 (newer than the 402) with ram mic on both boats and they work great. A neighbor has the Standard Horizon setup the same and they all function identical so shop by price between the two. The wired RAM mic's run about $100 and come with one extension cable. The radios can be had for under $200.

Friends have a wireless RAM mic and I must admit it is very nice to not have the cord. It works fine about any place aboard their boat and I think they connected it to a Standard Horizon, but that is not who makes them.

I have a hand held as well but unless it's a bridge or inside the marina the added power and range from an antenna on top of the mast makes the transmiision / reception far far better and farther.
