https://www.satphonestore.com/

Know others that have used them and happy. No connection.

Predict wind sells Iridium stuff as well.

I would consider looking for a used one, as they come up quite often now that people ditch them for starlink.

If you want new, I would buy from Predictwind because they have good support. You can buy a Go! from them, even if you don't subscribe to their service. I think the price is going to be the same from basically anywhere. And you can switch SIM cards to a different provider whenever you like also.

Aloha I am trying to decided what to by the basic go or the Go exec. My searching is showing that most retailer sell at t about the same price. It is the extras (Apps, tracking) that the retailer provice that change their prices. I have contact OCENs and they have been very helpful. I was thingking of using predict wind also as they package their app in to their package. I haven't made a final decision on what to purchase or who from.

Re: Iridium GO vender recommendation

I delivered one boat last fall for a newbie who bought his first GO from the Satphone store, and they ripped him off for a minimum one year service at $180 per month. The Predict Wind store tells you how to only pay for what you need, and would have saved him nearly 2 boat units.

Thank you, good information. Another question please:

Is Predict Wind the only reasonable app in the market? Or is there other Iridium GO optimized apps for the iPAD?

Note: Sailing California to Hawaii

I have done comparisons on my own and for Practical Sailor. PW is the best in class, Luck GRIB is good, but does not have as many models, nor is the routing as robust.

As a delivery Capt I have an annual PW subscription. For someone who does not need it as much, get the monthly and pat when you need it. I also use Luck GRIB for my current gribs.

I have been using Windy on my phone seems pretty good but not as robust as Predict Wind. Ocens has an app that I have not used. I am still in the research mode on wich way to go for offshore/remote weather.
Molokai my plan is the oppsite of yours I am planning to head to the PNW in 24.

Sea-Tech.com is a member and forum supporter here. Richard offers competitive pricing and unique service bundles for comms, etc. gear.

Sea-Tech offers a GO unlimited data plan that issues you a US phone number (meaning it is easy for other cell phones to call/text your GO) and can be paused without having to install a new SIM everytime you resume service.

You can also subscribe to PW and sat email services on a monthly basis, making this a very cost effective plan for those of us still needing to use a GO.

FWIW

Cheers, Bill

Re: Iridium GO vender recommendation

In your comparisions, note that you can get an annual subscription from predictwind, and you can cancel it early and they will give you a credit of the unused portion. You can then restart later. The same is true for upgrades, if you want to have the pro subscription for a passage, you can pay the $249, and when the passage is done, downgrade back to standard and the unused portion of the money is credited to your standard subscription.

When you combine this with only activating the Iridium Go for the seasonal months you are sailing out of cell phone range, the package of the Go and Predict wind is much more reasonable.
