What iPad NAVIGATION APPS are you using? Are you gnashing your teeth and pulling out your hair? Or are you wondering why your chart plotter cost $3500 while you are enjoying your iPad?

Man was that good for a laugh! Navigating for the price of lunch at McDonalds, vs. $4k on a plotter. Gracias!

I use Inavx, with no problems here in panama, i have not learned to use it with google earth yet. I dont do night runs unless I have the track to use or open water. Close to reefs I use my eyes.

Re: Ipad Navagtion

I just use google earth to do fly overs of the anchorages I select on INavX or Nobeltec.

Here's a screen shot of the IPad chartplotter using the INavX anchor alarm last night.

Here's a picture of the same anchorage from Google earth.

All "for the price of lunch at McDonalds."

Screen shot of Nobeltec Time Zero using a different set of charts. Can also be viewed in 3D.

Re: Ipad Navagtion

I have been using the Garmin BlueChart on an Ipad. I have both a dedicated chart plotter and the Ipad at the helm. I hardly ever use the dedicated plotter any more. I really have grown to prefer the Ipad. I bring it below when not at the helm, use it for books, music, whatever, and as a chart plotter all at the same time.

Were the blue charts a special "purchase"? I have some on chips from Garmin iQue3600 and would be interested in getting them on an android tab to "play with". Is that possible?

Re: Ipad Navagtion

The Garmin app for the Iphone/pad is free. Charts for US East coast and Bahamas were about $25 if I remember correctly. I am not familiar with the Garmin iQue3600 or the android apps.
