GPS Recommendations?

I have special needs. I want a gps that tells me where I am. Lat Lon. That you can read. That's it. All the rest is mere frippery.:big grin:

Oh, and cheap. Relatively speaking.

Thanks!

GPS Recommendations?

Furuno makes a basic gps.the furuno gp32.

Otherwise if you don't need a display and just need to feed position to something, get a gps puck, feed 5 volts to it and use the NEMA data from it. Something like this

Re: GPS Recommendations?

Yup Furuno GP-30, Gp-31 & GP-32 nice simple units...I had a GP-30...was great.

Or the older Garmin handhelds, this one is $31. I have the GPS-72...nice backup, no frills.

I might try it. I have a cheap samsung. It is a long story. I am afraid to get an expensive I phone because I lose them and drop them all the time. I dropped one in a bucket of drywall mud once. Anyway, i can't read the dang thing. I hate texting, etc.

the puck thing might be best for me if I can h=get my wife to give me her old i pad to hook it to. Am afraid to use this macbook on the boat for fear of getting it wet.

Re: GPS Recommendations?

Or if you're looking for cheap and reliable with an amazing battery life, how about a simple Garmin etrex gps?

I picked one up two years ago for around $90 us.

Re: GPS Recommendations?

Just use the GPS in your smart phone and download a free ap that gives you the L&L readout

Sounds like you need a phone in a Lifeproof case.
