GPS Heading Compass on sailboat?

Anybody install a GPS heading compass on their sailboat? If so, where did you install it?

I'm contemplating mounting one on the front of my gallows. I'm thinking that I would need to make sure the boom wasn't tied over the top of the compass to prevent blocking the satellites.
