Garmin 440S & Transducer

I am new to boating and electronics. I have a Garmin in my vehicle and love it. I have purchased a boat to use in the Gulf. I would also like to do some fishing. I am looking at the Garmin 440S. I am looking for the best price. I do not know if I need a transducer or not. I do not know much about them or what all I need. Any help would be appreciated.

Try these guys...
Garmin GPSMAP 440s Compact Color GPS/Sonar Combo (No Transducer)

This particular 440s comes without a transducer. The same guys have a little in-hull transducer...
Garmin Dual Frequency Plastic Adjustable In-hull Mount Transducer with Depth.

The transducer needs to be mounted inside the hull (Google it).

Tigergps is the lowest price on the internet.

Good-luck!

Garmin GPSMAP 440s (SKU # 010-00516-42) is the sounder version, which comes with a dual frequency ( 200/50KHz, 12/45degree) transducer (In Hull SKU #010-10327-00) that clearly paints depth contours, fish targets and structure.

I got my Garmin 540S off or e-Bay for $580 which was the lowest price I could find. It came with the dual frequency transom mounted tranducer. The Garmin Bluechart G2 for our area was $240. Haven't used it on the boat yet (still frozen in) but have booted it up and works fine. Easy to understand interface and controls.
