Re: Sailing Tampa, FL to Kemah, TX

To each his own. I find that with two people on board, using the Fairways, especially at night, is much more relaxing.
While in a marina in Slidell, LA, a sailboat came from Galveston that had done the ICW in one stretch running 24hours/day. I thought then, and still do now, that they were totally crazy and lucky to be alive, but they lived to tell the tale.

Re: Sailing Tampa, FL to Kemah, TX

I've only a couple times come up on a dark shadow, and realized it was an unlighted structure.

Scary, but if you keep a good lookout, avoidable.

Once you get 100 miles out from shore nearly everything will be big, and well lit.
