jabsco electric toilet pump failure

Hello, I have a 12v model # 37010 Jabsco electric toilet and have just experienced my 2nd pump failure and need some help. Water is getting past the shaft seal into the motor.

We have 2 of these, and while we've replaced the motors on both in the 12 years we've owned the boat, I wouldn't call that abnormal... The motors ARE chinese made crap, no pun intended. But they seem to work fine on our boat. A couple of thoughts:


We NEVER flush anything but human waste. No sense in putting stress on it. Could be that this is why your seal is failing - side stress on the seal.



Keep the motor dry.



We have timers on ours, and flush with fresh water. Might be that salt water sitting under the seal starts to rust, which tears up the seal?



When we put seals and O rings in, I use silicone grease. It helps keep things in place during assembly too.
