Re: Important things we don't talk about much
I need a good little sign above the toilet saying
"Look I have told you what not to put down there so go on I dare you.. throw it in there and when your asleep I am going to stuff it back in your orifice".
Guess what I am doing tomorrow. Does not matter how many times you tell guests and why is it always the women!

Damage I can cope with but expanding mice in the pipework is another matter.

Yes, guess I need a mouse trap in the trap and then tomorrow I can work on more pleasant things such as cleaning the bilge.
Like everywhere else there will be hair in there as well. I have told my wife I am going to shave her bald... dammed long hair gets everywhere. Why she has her head in some of those places I will never know. I even found them in the engine room and believe me she has no idea where that is or the inclination to find it.

Re: Important things we don't talk about much
We don't talk much about the number of people that spend years dreaming and working toward the ability to cut ties and go cruising, just to return to land living in a short while.
Would be interesting to hear from these people as to why.

We were nearly there ourselves and I wrote about it very frankly in our blog.
We have spoken to others about this and most agree it takes about three years to truly settle into this cruising lifestyle. After that it swings the other way and it is difficult to go back to land.

The page is here
Cygnus III | Eat up your food. It’s the end of year report!
That was our first Christmas away and believe me we were so close to going back.
We are now two years further down the line and I could not drag her back to land even if I wanted to..she just loves the life.
The first year is different and after that you learn so much and then life becomes easier.....
Contact me through the website if I can help more

Sounded mostly about missing "home" and budget issues.

I think the main problems with our better half's in the early years of cruising are that they miss their friends, family and sometimes jobs and their own independence.
Certainly that was the case for my wife and also for the female halfs of quiet a few cruising couples we have spoken to.
The first year is also one where you tend to really blow the budget a lot before realising how to cut back and also if you don't cut back you cannot carry on.
