But after living on a 29' boat full-time for 2 yrs, I long for a galley that'll allow me more then 1-pot meals (and is not located at hip-height ..) and ... a shower. I don't care how small and basic, but waiting for a marina shower to become available nearly every single day has kinda lost its charm

Right now, warm water comes from the kettle, which is no big deal really but hot water would be sooooo nice!

And there's the trade-off again: galley where I want (and have) my 2nd settee
So sad we can't just have it all

Alden designed 1976 Fuji45. No.11 of 25 or so... wish I could post a pic, but this system wants a url?

Yes, it is. I was really impressed with the build quality. All the compartments glassed to the hull were amazingly solid, tight and stiff. Nothing seems flimsy. Anywhere there was plywood used in a compartment or bulkhead it looked as if it was less than 5 years old. Absolutely no delamination anywhere. Everything looked practically as good as the day it was made. From what I understand they are pretty good boats going to weather also. I talked to a person that has owned his for 15 years and he says close hauled is its best point of sail.

Re: Got a plastic classic?

The only experience I have had with those little UK boats was with a Signet 20. When I was 20, a 16 year old friend of mine got one and we sailed it down from SF to Santa Barbara non-stop, no problem, pretty much surfing the whole way. Then he took his mom out to the Channel Islands on it for 2 weeks and then he sailed it back UP the coast to SF. Pretty impressive, now that I think back on it. But I was impressed what a tough little boat it was.

Try using the paperclip at the top here and attach it after browsing your computer for the photo. Hope it works!
edit: OK I see, perhaps you are trying to add photos to the social group. Try putting your photos into an album on your profile. Then at the bottom of the album page it will have a button for "add photos to a group" or something like that.

Yeah, those were the good ol' daze. Now you have to have a 40'er to sail in the ocean.

The ocean? Try the damn IJsselmeer - the 40' boats won't even go there these days if there's actual wind. Just imagine the looks I got on my little boats (22-29').

What and get the boat dirty and spill the wine? You don't think they buy those boats to ACTUALLY go sailing do you?

I did, once upon a time ...
