Re: Feds Seek Info on Manatee Crime

I wonder how long those tracking devices will stay intact?

I hadn't much thought of manatees having "personality", and wonder now if being curious is a help or a hindrance for one....

Thanks, Gord, for the recommendation.

Ann

Scientists use three different types of radio tracking systems: VHF radio tracking, satellite tracking, and global positioning system tracking.
The lifespan of batteries in trackers can vary greatly, depending on several factors, including the specific device, usage patterns, and battery type.

For instance: The Project ICARUS* (International Cooperation for Animal Research Using Space) trackers can last for an animal’s lifetime, without ever needing to be retrieved.

Re: Feds Seek Info on Manatee Crime

The one in the photograph looked vulnerable to snagging on roots or rocks. My concern was physical interference, rather than battery life.
