American possibly buying in the UK

Hi all - I'm about a year away from purchase of a mid-30' sailboat for first coastal, then offshore cruising. My problem is that I'm an American in love with British boats. With very few exceptions my top ten list is all British - Nicholson 32, Biscay 36, Tradewind 35, Contessa 32, etc. etc. Other than an occasional Canadian finding I'm looking seriously at probably buying in the UK.

Has anyone got experience doing this? Is it possible/difficult to get a boat loan for a UK purchase?
