Of course, the replacement gauge, I find out after disassembling the panel, doesn't have the same connectors. So I went to the marina just before closing and bought what I thought was the right wire terminal.

Two days later we'd heard enough of the alarm, so I again disassembled the panel to install the new gauge. As luck would have it (actually Pisz Poor Planning) I'd bought the wrong wire terminal. And (again Pisz Poor Planning) the marina was closed for the evening. Ugh.

So I re-assembled the panel with the old buzzy gauge and picked up my tools. Going down the companionway to store the tools I see a small plastic bag on the chart table. A bag with five or six wire terminals that are exactly what I need.

Now, I did not buy that bag of terminals. Nor had it been on the boat- I've had the boat for 23 years and I know everything on it. I had never seen that bag before, and it wasn't there when I started the project 20 minutes earlier.

I had not been off the boat. Nobody came on the boat. The wife hadn't been off the boat, and she wouldn't know what to get anyway. Even if the Marina had been open, they didn't have the wire terminal I needed.

Where did this bag of correct wire terminals suddenly come from? Truly, I have no idea! It miraculously appeared!

Now I'm not particularly religious, though I've heard "The Lord works in mysterious ways." And not to question motives, but wire terminals? I don't want to sound unappreciative, but there are a few bigger miracles I could really, really use.

The new gauge is installed now, but I still ponder how that bag of terminals came to sit on the chart table.
A minor miracle or you removed the gauge from the box on the chart table?

The same thing happened to me not too long ago. I was in big trouble explaining to my mate that I had no idea whatsoever who the other woman was and what she was doing in my bunk.

As someone noticed, it is all the fault of that German engineer who is always hiding things from me. ;-)))

Magic connectors, Freaky!

My own 'must be aliens' moment this week:

I pulled out my photo album from 1982 when my wife and I sailed to the Bahamas to show to some old friends.
There is a newspaper clipping in it that was given to me in 1984, by another fellow on the dock.
I remember it was another couple on the same model boat, that got back from a long trip.

The clipping shows the boat we bought 4 years ago!!

The good news is that time travel will be invented in your lifetime!!!

Boy, does that sound familiar!

You either believe in a higher power or not. People who do seem to be happier.

Not me. I’m agnostic. I’d say I’m atheist but I’m afraid god might hear me.

I have early Alzheimer's. This kind of miracle happens to me regularly.

Re: A tiny miracle- no, really! a miracle!

I can say from experience that something sitting on the chart table for 26 years is not excessive.

I sail N about a thousand miles to get away from cold weather and then a thousand miles S to get away from hot, muggy weather every year and in spite of all good intentions sometimes do not get anything removed from the chart table except what fall off when the boat heels.

It's a part of modern life with all these magical navigation gadgets we don't need to look at a chart any more and the chart table is best used for long term storage. Don't sweat it mate, it is not a sign of sloth or any other type of moral degradation to have not seen the surface of your chart table for a few years.

I was married for a couple of years before I realized that my wife and I were completely incompatible.

She is a very tidy person whereas I am an orderly person. She cannot bear to see anything left out and will instantly put the offending item in a drawer or cupboard. Unfortunately, it is seldom the same drawer or cupboard and I spent most of my married life searching every cupboard and drawer in the house for things.

I on the other hand am an extremely orderly person. When I take my clothes off I drop them in the same place on the floor every time and consequently know without searching that I am either wearing them or they are lying on the floor where I dropped them. It's called keeping regular habits and is characteristic of the orderly.

Until I gave up on trying to bring her to orderliness and went to live on the boat in 2001 we drove each other mad.

Have you lost a tooth recently? Could be the tooth fairy.

The terminals came with the new gauge. They dropped out and you found them
